Toolbox Talks for a Safer Workplace

Best practice businesses run Toolbox Talks or safety meetings on a regular basis. Typically, they last around 10-15 minutes each, with most trades or warehouse businesses holding a weekly or fortnightly meeting.

The frequency of these meetings will depend on the size, nature and location of the workplace, with some hazardous activities requiring daily meetings - such as on construction sites. In businesses with traditionally low risks such as an office environment a monthly or even quarterly meeting will be sufficient.

The most effective toolbox/safety meetings for workers are short and to the point.

Our “toolbox talk” factsheets are ready to go: short and succinct, covering a wide range of topics. They are suitable for many different industries and will help you get your safety message across to your workers.

Bullying and harassment Toolbox talks have been updated to include definitions and procedures under the Fair Work Act Amendment which started on 1 January 2014.
